In the spring of 2020, the National Portrait Gallery in London embarked on an ambitious endeavor, temporarily closing its doors for a comprehensive re-presentation of its esteemed collection. Following three years of meticulous behind-the-scenes transformations, the gallery proudly reopened its doors on June 22, 2023. We are honored to have been a pivotal force in this transformative journey, contributing significantly to the project.
In a momentous occasion, The Princess of Wales, the esteemed Patron of the National Portrait Gallery (NPG), graced the reopening ceremony after the culmination of a comprehensive three-year Inspiring People refurbishment project. During her visit, Her Royal Highness explored The Mildred and Simon Palley Learning Centre, where she engaged with the innovative Under 5’s Programme. Witnessing firsthand the immersive and multi-sensory workshop, The Princess exemplified her commitment to fostering artistic education and engagement.
In the realm of my contributions to this prestigious project, I played a pivotal role in enhancing the exhibition experience. Specifically, I created a digital twin focused on the escalator wall, serving as a crucial tool to preview and refine animatics. This innovative approach allowed for a better understanding of scale, enabling precise adjustments to the animatic content to ensure a seamless and impactful presentation on the wall. Additionally, it provided the client with a clear visual preview, aiding in their comprehension of how the animatics would appear on the wall. Subsequently, this visual insight played a crucial role in securing the client's confirmation of our job.
Our collaboration extended to the creation of 41 multimedia exhibits, encompassing innovative elements such as an AI-powered portrait experience, a captivating animated projection wall showcasing the gallery's most exquisite portraits, interactive touch screens, and thought-provoking documentary films. This collective effort stands as a testament to our commitment to elevating the artistic and technological landscape of one of London's cultural treasures.
